Detection of changes in temperature extremes during the second half of the 20th century

چکیده
[1] Since 1950, the warmest and coldest days and nights of the year have become warmer. Comparing these observations with climate model simulations in an optimal detection analysis shows a significant human influence on patterns of change in extremely warm nights. Human influence on cold nights and days is also detected, although less robustly, but there is no detection of a significant human influence on extremely warm days. In the future, extreme temperatures are expected to intensify considerably, with adverse consequences for human health. Citation: Christidis, N., P. A. Stott, S. Brown, G. C. Hegerl, and J. Contributions of natural and anthropogenic forcing to changes in temperature extremes over the United States
[1] Observations averaged over the U.S. for the second half of the 20th century have shown a decrease of frost days, an increase in growing season length, an increase in the number of warm nights, and an increase in heat wave intensity. For the first three, a nine member multi-model ensemble shows similar changes over the U.S. in 20th century experiments that combine anthropogenic and natural f...
متن کاملTrends of Extreme Temperature Over the Lake Urmia Basin, Iran, During 1987-2014
The variability of temperature extremes has been the focus of attention during the past several decades and had a great influence on the hydrologic cycle. A long-term, high-quality daily maximum (TX) and minimum temperature (TN) of seven stations was used to determine the spatial and temporal characteristics of extreme temperature events in Lake Urmia Basin in Iran during 1987 to 2014. The RCli...

The present study attempts to investigate the relationship between spatial configuration changes of Qom and the central core in the last half century. The main objective of this study is to review the Spatial form of Qom, and analyze the effect of changes in Urban configuration on the central core of the city and the main axes of urban activities during 1946 to 2011 and ultimately, Forecast the...
متن کاملThe Aesthetics of the Machine in the 20th Century Art based on Don Ihde’s Ideas
The increasing growth of technology in the twentieth century has brought about profound developments in the relations between man and the world. These developments, which included large industries and automatic and semi-automatic machines, necessitated the question of technology not only by intellectuals, but also by artists. Thus, different approaches to technology were formed, all of which we...
متن کاملBiogeophysical effects of historical land cover changes simulated by six Earth system models of intermediate complexity
Six Earth system models of intermediate complexity that are able to simulate interaction between atmosphere, ocean, and land surface, were forced with a scenario of land cover changes during the lastmillennium. In response to historical deforestation of about 18 million sq km, themodels simulate a decrease in globalmean annual temperature in the range of 0.13–0.25 C. The rate of this cooling ac...
